Melbourne International Motor Show

Any person with a passion for cars, will consider this a "Treat", I couldn't believe my eyes that Melbourne really got this down for the show, I was there for more than 10 minutes not knowing what to do, just staring at the most beautiful and history rich car I've seen in my whole life, and then I started clicking "The Chevrolet Camaro Concept". It will be years before we see those in several colours cruising around cities, by far the best concept car out there.

It's amazing what a pro camera can do to a nice looking model, ten seconds ago she was touching up on the Fiat car she's presenting and "wola" now there she is posing for the camera. Have to confess they all were really friendly and loved the camera.

Of all the car manufacturers this is the only exotic car brand, I don't like, I don't have a reason for that but I never liked Ferrari, it's really hard to get used to the idea Ferrari makes performance cars, as a car lover I'm supposed to like Ferrari, somehow this black beauty stole my heart. It's a spyder.

Very nice lighting effect, car exterior blends with it and makes a dreamy display, probably the best display work. It's a lexus IS.

Opel Astra, very decent brand of all time. They never over perform and make headlines and never under perform and go out of business.

All in all the whole experience was definitely worth the 13 dollars I payed to get in, wished Skyline concept and the Ford GT was on the show, and there were rumours Toyota was gonna unveil its Supra concept, but Supra myth got just another year older, that was it, maybe we'll not see another Supra for the next 10 years, it's already 14 years since the last model. Maybe next year they will unveil the secret, no matter what car lovers like me will always wait to see that marvel and sigh in content to see the car that they never can afford to buy.

Beauty or the Beast?

It sure was not the easiest decision to make, leaving all the loved ones, friends, my career... now I'm in melbourn australia, sharing a house with four guys I never knew before in my life, they treat me and help me a lot, but i can't help my mind from wandering through all the walks I once did, all the joys all the betrayals, it was life, home.

But this sunny clean country gives me so much to look forward to, lot of opportunities. The reason I'm blogging today cos i got a new phone yesterday, unfortunately I cannot use my old phone, the dark beast, with the chip, i have to use the new free phone, the mystical beauty. It sure looks nice, like a little iPod with music functions pulled out. Hoping to do a lot of clicking in the coming years, but for now I'm getting used to the ways of my new home.

Law Enforcement dog attach show.....

A dog show was organized by the CKC at BMICH western gardens, so to utilize on the photo opportunity, I was there with my partner at around 10.30am. We had a great time watching the show and meeting dog owners, taking photos all the time. Visit my flickr space for all 47 shots

Nature - "Fury"

"Fury" would be my second submission for Color Awards, It will participate the Nature - Amateur category. The sun is about to set, a panel of passing by clouds blocking the sun light, the "Fury" ignites, the sun blading through the clouds with it's beams of light finding it's way through.

Still Life - "Pawn"

This is a photo I'm submitting for Color Awards, I'm planning to do submissions in Abstract, Fine Art, Nature and Still Life categories. This will go under Still Life- Amateur category. I'm naming it "Pawn", to show the invisible chains we all suffer in life and how strong we are dependant on them. Even though from upper eye level the "Pawn" looks steady and confident, if you look under, it's been stressed by the screw knob, which gives it it's strength and purpose, at the end it's only a supporter between the screw knob and the string, just like we all, being bound to chains and directed towards planned goals.

This is my first panorama image, it's constructed using around six images, stitched together to get the panorama effect. It seems good, I'm itching to go to a proper location and get some nice images to try this on. But until then, my room it is.

Trip to Kukuleganga

I got back from my trip to Kukuleganga, the location was somewhere near Mathugama. We almost got lost in between Agalawaththa and Mathugama, but with the help of very pleasant people on the way we could finally come to our destination.

This is Makeliya waterfall, we drove 9 kilometers from our resort, and got to this beauty around 5 in the evening,

This is a nice sunset wrapped shot on our way to the waterfall,

We accidentally got into this road on our way to Kukuleganga, it was an amazing drive through those rubber trees with their vivid coloured leafs,

This is a nice shot around 2 in the afternoon on the second day, on our way home.

Digital Dark Room in High Dynamic Range

After waiting all the week till weekend, to capture some nice images to develop HDR images, finally I couldn't wait any longer. So I took few images in different exposures and created this vivid image of my Digital Dark room, the pic was created with Photomatix.

I was so overwhelmed by something i saw the other day on the Internet called "Softmat filter" which gives an image a dreamy effect, i started to cruze through the streets of fort. Apart from the filter i was looking for a camera bag and a tripod. I could find the only actual camera supply shop, but it turned out the sales guy had serious attitude issues, he was telling me that "You need a big tripod for a big camera" when i asked him whether he got any compact mobile type tripods. After that comment and since he wasn't in a good mood, i started to walk the main street looking for another camera shop, however even though i was offered lemon, cauliflower and various other things for very reasonable prices, i could not find another camera shop. Every time i asked someone, they pointed me back to the same pissy dealer. So i went to mc, Ended up buying a cam bag and a tripod for an affordable price, then i headed home, no filter tho.

That was yesterday,

Today i had some time to work with both Corel and Photoshop, had to use the same shots i taken couple of days back, cos i didn't have time to take any new ones. This weekend is gonna be big tho...

New cam, Old tripod and a lot of Hard earned skills

Finally cleaned up and hooked up my father's old tripod with my cam and got some decent iconographs. This is the first time i used the RAW format, its pretty neat, you can do a lot of post processing with that, only problem is that after about 50 shots you have to unload your CF card, the stored pics are seriously bulky. I can really use my graphics skills here, adapting to Photoshop from CorelDraw is not easy, so I'm using both, even though i was doubtful in the beginning and wanted to fully convert to Photoshop, now it seems there are still a lot CorelDraw can do that Photoshop has to improve or add and vise versa.

Submitting two pics and waiting for almost a week, finally , today i got the mail from fotolia that one of the two images i submitted have been selected. This is a kind of photography i'm seen a future in, Stock Photography.

The photo was taken at Lili's place on the 31st night, evethough it looks as if its a night sky shot, its actually a night ground shot. Use your imagination!
